What's New With OpenRegulatory Formwork? (June + July Edition)

Double edition this time! That's because we were in Barcelona recently to hang out and catch up (we all work remotely). In the meantime, it seems it was only I who was unproductive, as I didn't send out the newsletter last month. Our developers, on the other hand, shipped so many features that I have a hard time catching up now. Damn! Let's try! There's some really awesome stuff below :)

Ah, and by the way, we're hosting a free Healthcare Startup Meetup online. It's happening next week Tuesday. Tatyana from HealthCaters will be talking about generating revenue and B2B sales. Register here, it's free!

Inline Comments!

It's hard to overstate the hugeness of this: You can now add inline comments to Documents and Records! Simply select some text and click the comment button on the right side of it.

Now you no longer have to draft your documents in Google Drive and then clunkily copy them over to Formwork later. Get everything done in Formwork, including the discussion with your team! :)

More Search Improvements

Formwork's search function used to suck quite a bit. That's because it was me who coded it. Now, our in-house coding Jedis have polished it and it's really, really awesome. Take a look:

Dashboard!

We've upgraded the Formwork dashboard: It now shows you the QMS items you've recently edited (apparently, I'm not doing a whole lot of QMS work here), and the products you recently worked on. Jump right in to where you left off and save some time! :)

QMS Overview Checking Reminders

In the QMS Overview section, you can set reminders for when you'd want to re-check those documents again, e.g. every year. Now, Formwork sends you regular reminders when those checks are coming up. It's really cool!

.. and lots of small improvements

As always, a gigantic ton of under-the-hood improvements :)

QMS

  • The training matrix is now scrollable in case you have many entries.
  • Records have permalinks now, too! Click the three-dots icon in the top right corner to get the permalink for a Record.
  • Records are now part of the Techdoc sanity check, too - if you have unreleased Records, they will show up.
  • A notice is displayed if you have autosaved changes for a document or record and would like to continue where you left off.
  • Fixed: Sometimes, video courses couldn't be accessed after they were completed.
  • Fixed: In rare cases, users with the viewer role could view the edit screen for editing items.
  • Fixed: Angled brackets in the text editor would sometimes crash it.
  • Fixed: Records keep their old release date, even if they are amended.
  • Fixed: Training reminders are now properly sent out to the to-be-trained users.
  • Fixed: Changing a user's email address shouldn't reactivate a free trial.
  • Fixed: In rare cases, the review screen for sending out reviews wasn't displayed.

Techdoc

  • Display release date in product releases overview.
  • Fixed: Detailed design items are properly copied when creating a new product release (only relevant in the rare case if you're actually using detailed designs)

As always, thanks for using Formwork!

If you're a super-early-stage startup with no funding, no revenue and less than 4 team members, you can get Formwork now for only 49€ per month. Fill out this form to get your discount code automatically in less than a minute.

For all other startups, we offer Formwork for 499€ / month instead of 799€ / month. Check out the Formwork page to learn more, schedule a call or simply reply to this email :)

Have a nice week ahead,

One of my colleagues recently postulated that Formwork "is the Lada of eQMS software" (Lada is a cheap car). He does have a point: Formwork is (much) cheaper than all eQMS software out there. But here's the thing: If Formwork were a Lada, happily cruising along on the highway, it would be able to fire up booster rockets and fly to the moon. Because nowadays, Formwork can do things which no other eQMS software can do. So, in that sense, I disagree with my colleague, because Ladas can't do...

Another double edition in which I hopelessly try to catch up with what our developers built in the last 1.5 months! Before we get started, here's something else which might interest you: Today, we launched a BEUDAMED, which is a better search engine for EU medical devices. Announcement, link to BEUDAMED. End of announcement. Let's look at what's going on with Formwork! Automation: QMS Overview Improvements Your notified body expects you to hand in a list of all your documents and processes....

BerlinCert, a Notified Body, recently issued their first MDR product certificate. And, guess what, it was a company which created their technical documentation with Formwork! If you were waiting for further proof that Formwork is the fastest way to create your documentation, this is probably it. Also: We launched Formwork Starter, where you only pay 49€ / month for all (!) Formwork features as long as you don't have any funding yet and your team consists of 3 people or fewer. So.. if you were...
