What's New With OpenRegulatory Formwork? (October Edition)

One of my colleagues recently postulated that Formwork "is the Lada of eQMS software" (Lada is a cheap car). He does have a point: Formwork is (much) cheaper than all eQMS software out there.

But here's the thing: If Formwork were a Lada, happily cruising along on the highway, it would be able to fire up booster rockets and fly to the moon. Because nowadays, Formwork can do things which no other eQMS software can do.

So, in that sense, I disagree with my colleague, because Ladas can't do crazy things like fly to the moon, but Formwork can.

Here are a few things which you can do today with Formwork:

  • View a complete example technical documentation and copy-paste it to your own project
  • Agile project management with kanban boards
  • Best-in-class full-text search, and export your data any time.

Interested? Take a look below!

Example Technical Documentation

When people learn how to code, they look at example code. When people learn how to write regulatory documentation, they.. pay consultants thousands of Euros? Something's not right.

Regulatory documentation for medical devices under the MDR is not that hard. It's just that we don't have any resources for people to learn by example.

That's why we're changing that - with Formwork Product Templates. In Formwork, you can now view entire Techdoc templates (software requirements etc.) and copy-paste them to your project. Check out the video below.

This is available for paid subscriptions to Formwork in the "Products" (Techdoc) section. Check it out in Formwork or navigate to Billing to upgrade.

Agile Project Management In Formwork 🚗 🚀

You can now use Formwork to keep track of your project progress with kanban boards. Simply open up any Techdoc list (e.g. Software Requirements), hit "Board" at the top, create a few boards and drag and drop items between them. Awesome! Show me one eQMS software which does this - I know of none.

(Part of the paid tier in the "Products" section)

We Improved The Search (Again)

Based on one customer's feedback, we put some work into the Formwork search again and improved it quite a bit. It's now even cleaner and, well, finds your stuff even better. Here's how it looks. Just hit "Search" in the top bar to access it within Formwork.

Notifications

In the past, Formwork would notify you via email about new things, like a document awaiting your review. Now, you can also view your notifications within Formwork by clicking the icon in the top right corner.

You can choose to disable email notifications, too, by navigating to Settings (top right corner) --> Notification settings.

Profile Pictures!

As you can see above, people in your company can now add profile pictures! Head over to Settings --> Your Profile to add yours so that your colleagues see a picture of you when e.g. receiving notifications from you.

Batch Export: Now More Robust

The Batch Export feature in Formwork is the feature to export all your documents and records in one click (no other eQMS has this). In rare cases though, it could sometimes fail, which is very frustrating. All of this is now fixed. Batch Exports are now much more robust.

.. and lots of small improvements

As always, a gigantic ton of under-the-hood improvements :)

General

  • When creating a new company account, we've now added a captcha to prevent automated bot signups (turns out even bots like Formwork)
  • Improved the styling of the registration, login and document signing forms
  • Some performance improvements
  • Even more performance improvements

QMS

  • When viewing CAPAs, you can now hover your mouse cursor over certain steps in the progress bar which shows you the exact dates on which an action was completed
  • Reviewer roles can now be exported as Excel file - simply navigate to "Roles" to export them.
  • Fixed: Sometimes, you couldn't navigate to another version of a custom file document
  • Fixed: Document comparisons sometimes looked weird if a document had comments
  • Fixed: Minor issue when linking documents
  • Fixed: Old versions of OpenRegulatory templates sometimes couldn't be accessed
  • Fixed: Cancelling a training also removes its notifications

Techdoc

  • Improve layout of requirements overview page
  • Don't show draft releases of Formwork Product Templates (see announcement above)

As always, thanks for using Formwork!

If you're an early-stage startup (no revenue, no funding, 3 people or less), purchase Formwork with your Starter discount now (49€ / month) by navigating to Settings (top right corner) --> Billing.

For all other startups, we offer Formwork at a discount for 499€ / month instead of 799€ / month. You can also purchase it by navigating to Billing.

Check out the Formwork page to learn more, schedule a call or simply reply to this email :)

Have a nice week ahead,
Oliver

Another double edition in which I hopelessly try to catch up with what our developers built in the last 1.5 months! Before we get started, here's something else which might interest you: Today, we launched a BEUDAMED, which is a better search engine for EU medical devices. Announcement, link to BEUDAMED. End of announcement. Let's look at what's going on with Formwork! Automation: QMS Overview Improvements Your notified body expects you to hand in a list of all your documents and processes....

Double edition this time! That's because we were in Barcelona recently to hang out and catch up (we all work remotely). In the meantime, it seems it was only I who was unproductive, as I didn't send out the newsletter last month. Our developers, on the other hand, shipped so many features that I have a hard time catching up now. Damn! Let's try! There's some really awesome stuff below :) Ah, and by the way, we're hosting a free Healthcare Startup Meetup online. It's happening next week...

BerlinCert, a Notified Body, recently issued their first MDR product certificate. And, guess what, it was a company which created their technical documentation with Formwork! If you were waiting for further proof that Formwork is the fastest way to create your documentation, this is probably it. Also: We launched Formwork Starter, where you only pay 49€ / month for all (!) Formwork features as long as you don't have any funding yet and your team consists of 3 people or fewer. So.. if you were...
